African horned cucumber also called kiwano melon has a spiky orange rind with bright green edible flesh inside. Its taste is a mixture of cucumber with the tartness of kiwifruit, great with a spinkle of salt. Easy to grow. 17-19 weeks to harvest. 30 seeds per packet.
Cape Gooseberry is a small fruiting shrub that grows to about 1m tall. It produces masses of marble-sized fruit held inside a papery husk. The fruits turn golden and their surrounding husks dry out as they ripen. Flavour is sweet but tart, reminiscent of a unique mix of pineapple, mango and tomato. 16-20 weeks to harvest. 160 seeds per packet.
Red Seeded Citron is a round jam melon variety with firm white flesh and red seeds. Has a high pectin content, can be used to make preserves, pie fillings or candied sweets. Keeps well in storage. Highly productive, pest and disease resistant vines. 10 seeds per packet.
Tiny of Coban is an open-pollinated tomatillo variety that produces small, purple-tinged green fruit that retain their husks when ripe. Husks won't split on the plant so it can be hard to tell when they're ripe, if you pick them early you can finish ripening them indoors. Tangy flavour excellent for making Mexican salsas. 50 seeds per packet.
